John Byron Hansen

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John Byron Hansen, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 5 surrounded by his children.

John was born on July 15th, 1931 in Moroni, Utah to Byron Nels Hansen and Margaret Ilene Curtis. He was their first child.

John attended Snow College and graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Business.

He married his sweetheart Leona Ewell in the Manti Utah Temple on September 27, 1951. Leona often fondly called him Jack.

After joining the Navy in November of 1951, he was soon stationed in Guam, and then in the Philippines after the Korean War where he worked as a logistics clerk for the military until 1955.

He moved to Sunnyvale, California to work for Lockheed for several years before settling in Holladay, Utah. He worked as the VP of a shelving company specializing in warehouse storage products.

John was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served many times as the Ward Clerk because he was good with numbers and records. He also served in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a kind sweet man who dearly loved his wife and delighted in his posterity. He had a fun sense of humor and a quiet but happy demeanor.

John is survived by his children, Sue (Dennis) Lloyd, John Brent (Heather) Hansen, and Matthew (Tracy) Hansen; his grandchildren, Emily Cordova, Jennifer (Erik) Strong, Ellie Burton, Brad (Kevin) Hansen, Jack (Breanna) Hansen, Michael (Katie) Hansen, Lisa (Cody) Wiseman, and Kylie (Erik) Langlo; great-grandchildren Jaela Cordova, Theodore, Georgia, Quincy, and Grant Strong, Rowan and Beck Burton, Luke and Millie Hansen, and Wrenley and Beau Wiseman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Byron Nels Hansen and Margaret Ilene Curtis; his siblings, Lila Maurine Anderson and Morris Curtis Hansen; his grandson, Andrew Lloyd; and his beloved wife, Leona Ewell.
