John Gregory Yorgason

Our dad, John Gregory "Greg" Yorgason, whose huge smile made everyone feel welcome, returned home on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the age of 72. He passed away peacefully in Payson, Utah, surrounded by his family.

Greg was born on November 30, 1953, in Nephi, Utah, to John Gayle Yorgason and Lucy Copley Yorgason. He was the youngest of seven children. He survived polio at age three, and when he was six his family moved from Nephi to Provo. He grew up there riding bikes all over town with his friends.

He attended Orem High School, where he played basketball, football, and soccer. After high school, he served a mission in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.

He married Kristine Davis on September 17, 1976, in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Together they raised five children: Adam, Ryan, Krystal, Annie, and Erik. His greatest pride was his family and his loving wife, Kristine.

Greg worked for Affiliated Metals, Aerofast, Industrial Products, and Majestic Flooring, and later sold insurance, including with Lincoln Heritage.

He served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including seven years as a temple worker.

Greg loved riding ATVs, working in his yard, and woodworking. Camping was a big part of his earlier years, and in his last few years he found a new love in model trains. He was known for his huge smile and his friendly, outgoing personality. He had a gift for making people feel welcome. If you spent any time with him, you probably heard him say, "If it is to be, it is up to me."

We will miss his big smile and his love, always.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kristine; his children, Adam (Jennifer) Yorgason, Ryan (Kristiena) Yorgason, Krystal Yorgason, Annie (Drew) Evans, and Erik (Kayloni) Yorgason; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter on the way in January 2027; his sister, Valerie (Ed) Platt; his brother-in-law, Ron Elliston; and his sisters-in-law, Teresa Yorgason, Kathy Yorgason, and Margaret Yorgason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gayle and Lucy Copley Yorgason; and his siblings, Lyn Elliston, Gary Yorgason, Blaine Yorgason, Brenton Yorgason, and Judy Ostermiller.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse, 151 South 200 West, Fountain Green, Utah 84632. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at the James Yorgason Pioneer Cemetery.
