It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Jose “Nico” Iglesia Lozano, age 18, who left us far too soon on July 9, 2025, as the result of a motorcycle accident. His passing came just one day after the 9th anniversary of his father’s death—an unimaginable and poignant reminder of how closely their spirits remain connected.
Born on October 13th, 2006 in Salt Lake City, UT. Nico was a vibrant, passionate, and fearless young man who lived life with intensity, love, and a spark that couldn’t be ignored. He brought light into every room he entered, and his energy, laughter and smile left a mark on everyone who knew him.
Nico was full of plans, dreams, and excitement for what the future held. Whether he was talking about his next ride, pursuing his ambitions, or simply spending time with friends and family, he poured his heart into everything he did.
He is survived by his mother Brianna Marie Jeffries, his siblings’ Sienna Marie Jeffries and Izel “Ziggy” Mateo Lozano. Along with many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who became family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Gill Lozano Jr., whose memory Nico carried with him every day and his older brother Maurciano “Tito” Lozano.
Though his time with us was heartbreakingly short, Nico lived boldly and loved deeply. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his big heart, and the way he never hesitated to stand up for what he believed in. He had an old soul with a young man’s fire—and while that fire may no longer burn in this world, its warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A small family viewing was previously held for immediate family at Goff Mortuary. We will be doing a small intimate burial at Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South on Thursday, July 17th at 2:00 PM to lay Nico to rest beside his father. Following the burial, we will be doing a Celebration of Nico’s life. The Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 2:00 PM at 6512 W. Indigo Dr. in Herriman. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend, share stories, and honor the extraordinary life he lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Nico’s go fund me to help send him off beautifully.
Ride free, Nico. You are loved more than words can ever express, and your memory will be carried with us always and forever.
I would greatly appreciate if you post any pictures that you have of Nico. I would love to see how he touched each of your lives.
