Joseph Mike Aiello

Our loving Husband, Dad, and Papa Joseph "Mike" Aiello, age 86, passed away on July 5, 2024. Mike was born to Mike and Katherine Aiello in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mike was a man who loved and cared about everyone fiercely. Many who knew Mike knew he was one of the most stubborn men but most loving you would cross paths with. Mike was there for any who needed him.

Mike joined the Navy when he and his friends decided to join together. This plan did not work as well as they had hoped when the Navy accepted only Mike and two of his friends. Mike proudly served three years in the Navy, where he served during the Korean War.

Following Mike's return from serving in the Navy, he met his wife, Jean (Walker) Aiello, and they raised two children in their home in Sandy, Utah. During their time together, Mike proudly worked for the Railroad industry for many years as a Yardmaster, where he then retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.

Mike was a man of stature, and his son frequently said, "You could hear those heavy boots coming from far away." Mike was a very social man who loved his friends and Family and cherished those relationships dearly. When he lived in Sandy, many people would find him hanging out for hours at the local coffee shop, enjoying everyone's company.

Many who knew Mike knew that if you came by his house, you had better plan to stay! He would say, "Come in and have a cup of coffee!" During your visit, you would find Mike sharing his wisdom or joking around. When the coffee visit was over, you frequently heard Mike say, "You sure you have to go?" When you would leave, you would always find Mike standing outside waving you goodbye as you drove away.

Mike had a deep enjoyment for raising cattle and tending to his pasture. He would frequently throw his grandchildren up on the tractor with him so they could help him tend to the pasture.

Mike had a deep enjoyment of the outdoors. He spent many days Hunting, Fishing, and camping with the people he loved and cared about.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Walker) Aiello. Children: Mike (Kelli) Aiello, Cindy (Brad) Harris. Grandchildren: Lacey (Nate) Duke, Courtney Harris (Kolt Denhalter), Zane (Bailey) Aiello, Tate Harris. Four Great-grandchildren and his Sister, Annette Jarrett. Mike was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister, two Brothers, and Brothers-in-law, and a Niece.
