Joseph Deon Hutchings

Joseph Deon Hutchings passed away July 3, 2023 at his home in Holladay, Utah.  He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 26, 1940 to Theron Bird Hutchings and Vida Palmer Hutchings.  He graduated from Jordan High School in 1958, and served as a missionary in the North British Mission from 1960-1962.  Deon Married Carol Fern Turner on June 21, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.  He continued his education, earning a degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University in 1966, and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles in 1969.  

An avid fisherman, Deon spent a great deal of time on the water with his family when he was able to take a break from his chiropractic practice.  A gifted musician, he shared his talents on the piano and organ with others, serving for years as an organist in his local ward and in the temple.  During the course of his personal and professional life he was able to touch and influence many.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Don and great-grandson Julian, and is survived by his brothers Cal and Byron, his wife Carol, and children Lee (Janice), Dale (Nancy), Kay, Sally (Adam), Dan (Colleen), and Ben (Robin), 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 7 from 6 to 8 pm, and on Saturday, July 8 at 11 am.  Funeral services will begin at noon.  The viewings and services will be held at the chapel located at 5450 S Holladay Blvd.
