Joshua Tyler Standifird

Joshua Tyler Standifird passed away August 8, 2026, after complications of lingering pneumonia.

Josh spent his childhood in Payson, UT. He found joy in nature and spent his days adventuring in the many orchards, fields and canals. His curiosity and passion for studying biology began young and accompanied him throughout his life. He was a great resource of knowledge regarding wildlife, plants and creatures and enjoyed teaching others.

Josh was kindhearted and easy to love. He spent most of his adult life living in the Salt Lake valley. He enjoyed music and good company, gathering many friends during his lifetime. He went on countless adventures, creating lasting memories with his best friend Matt Wilson. He enjoyed concerts, seeing many local shows and most recently traveling to Colorado to see Paul Simon at Red Rocks.

Josh married Janette Hansen in 1994. Together they had three children, Tyler, Halie and Sara. He was a playful, mischievous father, who enjoyed playing pranks and making them laugh. He took great pride in his children and found happiness watching them grow. He was excited to become a grandpa and he cherished any time he was able to spend with them.

Josh spent 30 years working in the glass industry where he worked as an installer, salesman and fabricator. Throughout the years, he gathered knowledge, skill and experience that earned respect from many in the industry. His colleagues often said they learned a great deal from Josh. He was generous with his time, always willing to share his knowledge with others.

Josh and Glori spent 12 years together; they built a life full of laughter and cherished memories. They enjoyed traveling and camping as often as they could. They were married in 2021, while camping at one of their favorite areas in the San Rafael Swell. They shared a great love of animals and we know Lucky dog will miss him greatly.

Josh found adventure and enjoyment even during the most difficult of circumstances. As his health began to decline, he never let it slow him down. He began dialysis in June 2022. Even though the demands of treatment were challenging, he never let it completely define his life. Despite the logistics and limitations of dialysis he was able to enjoy a cruise to Alaska last summer with Glori and Sara.

Josh will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He leaves a lasting legacy full of adventure, curiosity, knowledge, humor and a love of the natural world that will live on in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen “Skip” Standifird; his mother, Mary Ellen Campbell; sister Mary Lisa; brother Alex David and his mother-in-law, Glori Hodge Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Glori; his children, Tyler (Kara) Standifird, Halie (Nick) Erekson, and Sara Standifird; grandchildren, Theon, Rowan, Tytan, Blakelynn and Zefra. His brothers and sisters, Jeremy (Wendy) Standifird, Traci (Trent) Holmes, Kelli (Chris) Holt, Stephen (Tresha) Standifird, Susan (Andy) Otto, and Taylor (Courtney) Standifird many family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched.
