Karen Houmand

Karen S. Houmand, 86, passed away July 7, 2023.

Born April 27, 1937 in Murray, Utah, to Elmer Seigfried Sanders and Hazel Alvina Anderson Sanders.

She married her sweetheart, Don L. Houmand, June 2, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Karen was self-employed, and Don and Karen were proud owners of Houmand’s Fabrics in Murray, Utah.  Later in life, she enjoyed the sales of antiques and collectibles while employed by the Social Security office in Salt Lake City.

She was blessed with 65 years of loving companionship with Don, and together they enjoyed their wonderful family and took pride in all their accomplishments. She was a life-long resident of Crescent, Sandy, and Draper graduating from Jordan High School in 1955 with numerous honors.

Karen is survived by her two sons Craig D. (Vicki) Houmand and Corey K. (Natalie) Houmand, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law (Holly and Josie), her brother (LaMar), her husband, and her granddaughter (Alisa).

Karen was a loving, caring, and devoted wife and mother to her family and had many life-long friends throughout her beautiful and blessed life.  We will always keep our lovely and beloved mother in our hearts and prayers forever.

There will be a viewing for family and friends on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah.  A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Crescent Cemetery, 11105 South State Street, Sandy, Utah.
