Kathryn JoAnn Allred Bronson, age 77, of Rocky Ridge, Utah, passed away on January 16, 2024.

JoAnn was born on October 28, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marvin Laddie Allred Sr. and Kathryn Jessop Allred.

On October 22, 1965 she married Thomas Edwards Bronson.  JoAnn and Tom went on to have 9 children, 8 of whom she raised to adulthood.  David, Barbara, Kathy, (stillborn boy), Michael, Aaron, Sharon, Roxanne, and Rachel.  She lived a life of loving service in devotion to God and to her family.

After JoAnn’s youngest child started school, she began training as a midwife.  Over the next 13 years she assisted in bringing hundreds of beautiful babies into this world.  These were very special years to her.  She had a deep love for the sacred role of motherhood.  This season of her life came to an end as a result of a serious stroke in the year 2000.  Her heart was broken when was unable to continue in this cherished work.  To help fill this void she poured her heart into genealogy and family history research.  JoAnn had a remarkable memory and loved to tell stories and sing to her children and grandchildren.

In 2017 JoAnn suffered a second major stroke, after which she lost most of the function in the right side of her body.  She demonstrated great courage over the remaining years of her life as she diligently worked toward improving her mobility.

On Thursday, January 11th, JoAnn began having trouble swallowing and on Friday, January 12th, she was admitted to the Central Valley Medical Center for evaluation and testing.  On January 16th, after showing some improvement and having spent much of the day visiting with family, she passed away suddenly at 9:15 p.m.

JoAnn was looking forward to a glorious reunion with many loved ones who had gone on before.  She is survived by a large family, her eight children, their spouses, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the MLA Building in Rocky Ridge, Utah.  Viewing on January 21st from 6 to 8 p.m.  and on January 22nd from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m.  Interment will be at the Rocky Ridge Cemetery.
