Kaylee Lu Cox

Kaylee Lu Cox, a bright soul who taught everyone around her the true meaning of joy, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Dutch John, Utah. Born on December 6, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Kaylee’s life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of a laugh that could light up the darkest room.

From the very beginning, Kaylee possessed a sharp wit and a natural gift for making people smile. At just three years old, while playing in the backyard with her beloved dog, Bowser, Kaylee suffered a heart attack. Though the event left her a quadriplegic for most of her life and took away her ability to speak in words, it could never silence her spirit. With a heart that was a medical miracle—beating strong even when doctors marveled at its fragility—Kaylee communicated through happy shrieks and infectious laughter that resonated deeper than words ever could.

Kaylee lived for the people she loved. She was famously obsessed with Mickey Mouse, Grandma Marilee’s babysitting, and the excitement of any visitor who walked into her room. Her wild spirit thrived in moments of adventure: she would erupt in giggles while her dad, Trevor, zoomed her around in his golf cart, or when her Grandpa pulled her behind the boat on a tube. She found pure thrill in being tossed into the air by her stepdad, Chace, her shrieks of delight filling the air.

Her siblings were her world. Konner and Kaylee were the very best of friends; despite the challenges following her accident, Konner never left his sister's side. Their bond remained as playful and strong as ever, proving that nothing could get in the way of their special friendship. When her little sister Aspen was born, Kaylee found another best friend. Aspen would climb all over her, playing with a childhood roughness that made Kaylee wince and laugh all at once, simply overjoyed to have her sister by her side.

Kaylee’s happiness was a reflection of the extraordinary love she received. Her mother, Randee Miller, dedicated her life to Kaylee’s care. Doctors often remarked that they had never seen a child with so many challenges appear so genuinely happy and well-tended. Kaylee was truly "happier than most anyone," a special soul who defied every limitation with a smile.

Kaylee is survived by her mother, Randee Miller; her stepfather, Chace Wamsley; her father, Trevor Cox; stepmother Dixie Clark; her brother, Konner Miller; and her sister, Aspen Kay Wamsley. Preceded in death by Grandma Janet, who loved her dearly.

She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and pure, unfiltered joy. We love you, Kaylee—thank you for teaching us how to truly live.
