Kendall Ray Cook

Kendall was born 30 March 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Emmet and Ethel Gardner Cook. Kendall was the youngest of 5 siblings: Carolyn, Gerald Emmett, Duane William, and Charlene. He was raised in West Jordan, Utah surrounded by pioneer heritage land spending his childhood and teen years assisting his family on the farm.

During summer vacations, holidays and weekends he worked for his brothers, Gerald and Duane, at Hale & Cook Landscape LLC and Cook Brothers Landscape LLC West Jordan, Utah to help pay for his college education.

Kendall received the Duty to God award and was awarded Governor Rampton’s Scholarship both in 1975. He graduated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Seminary and Bingham High School in Copperton, Utah Class of 1975.

After high school Kendall attended and graduated from Utah State University Logan, Utah Class of 1981 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering.

Kendall began his 35 year career at Sperry Univac which through the years was also known as Univac, Unisys, Paramax, Loral, Lockheed Martin, L-3 Communications and lastly L-3 Harris. Kendall retired in 2022 to relax (haha) on the farm he grew up on.

After Kendall’s father passed away in 1995, he bought his home across from the farm and moved his mother in to care for her for 9 years until her passing in 2011.

Kendall was always involved in his brothers’ and sisters’ family activities. All of the nieces and nephews along with many, many great nieces and nephews will miss Uncle Kendall at family dinners, holidays and special occasions.

Kendall had a strong firm testimony of Jesus Christ and served in many church callings throughout the years. Some of those callings were financial clerk, High Priest Group Leader, Stake High Council and 1st Counselor in River Oaks 2nd Ward Bishopric.

Kendall is survived by his brother, Duane William (Merlene) Cook, 10 nieces, 11 nephews and a large extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald Emmett Cook and sisters Carolyn Jorgensen, Charlene Burton. His nephews Tracy Emmett Cook, Brian Burton.

The family wants to extend a warm thank you to all those special family members, friends, and medical personnel who assisted in Kendall’s care. Kendall also participated in START for cancer research to help find a cure for others.
