Kirk H Olsen, son of Snell and Lorraine Olsen, and husband of Tami Rollo Olsen, passed away on May 9, 2025 while traveling through Texas. Kirk was born in Payson, Utah on March 29, 1963 and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. He grew up on a large sheep operation where his passion for animals, showing sheep and the open road originated. While there, he learned the valuable lesson of hard work that shaped the rest of his life. He was very proud of his Olsen heritage and shared that with everyone he knew.
After graduation, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rochester, New York. He attended Utah State University in Logan studying accounting. This is where he met the love of his life Tami Rollo, who was a good influence on Kirk and helped him graduate with a bachelors degree in Accounting. They were married. Kirk and Tami lived in Spanish Fork and started a family. Later they moved to Virginia and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Washington D.C. temple with their three children. A few days before Kirk’s unexpected passing he said, “that was best thing we did in Virginia.” They were married for 32 years, and he kept her on her toes every minute, not knowing when he would show up with a bunch of baby lambs or supplies to build a new barn.
They shared many adventures together, Kirk loved to travel and to learn about historical places as well as visit military museums and aircraft hangers. He worked in the aerospace industry for many years but also has a deep love for trucking. He had many occupations because he was a man of many interests. He loved to be on the open road since he was a teenager, helping at his family's sheep ranch. He was always chasing down the next dream and adventure, and he was a great storyteller with larger than life tales. He taught his family how to dream big and also how to work hard to make those dreams happen. He had a philosophy about everything. He loved serving with the youth of the church and served many years in Sunday School and the Sunday School presidency. Kirk loved their enthusiasm and excitement for the gospel. He loved being outside, and he loved the smell of sagebrush in the summer, trimming his roses, carpentry and playing in the ocean on family vacations. He loved to go for road trips with his family and to stop at every fruit stand along the way and to pick up a few trinkets to give to people when he got back. He loved to give gifts and to make new acquaintances. The best gift he gave us all are the life lessons we have because of him. Kirk had many great loves but his greatest was his family. This love sustained him through hard times as well as his faith in Jesus Christ and knowledge of eternal families.
Kirk is preceded in death by his parents Snell and Lorraine. Kirk is survived by his loving wife Tami Olsen (Rollo), his siblings; Shawn, Michelle, Scott, Janean, Jedd and Jennifer, and his children; Whitney(Justin), Kristen(Corey), Jacob, Ali (Kyle), and Kameron(Lorin).
He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family, but we know that we will see him again and he will have lots of tales to tell. A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 23rd at 10:00am and funeral services will begin at 11:00 at 838 S 50 W, Mona, Utah. Following funeral services he will be buried in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
