Kristy Dawn Green

Kristy Dawn (Gabbitas) Green passed peacefully with "bells ringing and people singing" on December 24, 2025, in her home in Copperton, Utah. Joy to the World!

Kristy was born on September 13, 1966, in Ogden, Utah; the cherished daughter of Gary and Sherey Gabbitas. She was raised in North Ogden, Utah, where her vibrant, fun-loving spirit was evident from a young age.

On February 22, 2007, Kristy married the love of her life, Doug (Douglas) Green, in the Jordan River Temple. Together they shared 18 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion to family.

Kristy and Doug finished raising their blended family in Copperton, Utah; lovingly caring for her three daughters and his five boys. Kristy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who made sure her family always knew how deeply they were loved. Her home was a place of warmth, creativity, and comfort.

Kristy also enjoyed a successful 18-year career at the University of Utah. For the final 12 years, she served as Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, Jerry Basford, whom she often described as her favorite boss. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built during her years of service.

Kristy had a fun, spunky personality and a heart full of love for others. She was a fantastic cook, an avid crafter, and a truly talented artist. She especially loved watercolor painting and creating handmade jewelry, most notably her beautiful earrings, which reflected her creativity and joy for life.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kristy served generously in many callings, including Young Women’s Counselor, Relief Society Counselor, and Assistant Compassionate Service Coordinator. Her service was marked by genuine care, kindness, and a desire to lift others.

Kristy’s legacy is one of love, faith, creativity, and family—a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother Sherey Gabbitas.

She is survived by her husband Doug (Douglas) Green; her father Gary Gabbitas; her brothers Val (Malia) Gabbitas and Lonnie (Roxanne) Gabbitas; her daughters Amanda (Josh) Orton, Annalyn (Buck) Barney, and Hannah (Jordan) Ruth Pond; her step-sons Justin Green, Andrew (Kristen) Green, Matthew (Zosha) Green, Stephen (Kelly) Green and Nicholas (Valerie) Green; and her 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 3rd, at the Copperton Ward Chapel, 8633 Hillcrest St, Bingham Canyon, Utah. Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 2nd and 9:30 to 10:45 AM Saturday, January 3rd prior to the service.
