Ladd Dwane White

Ladd Dwane White, 80, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 21, 2024, in Nephi, Utah.

Ladd was born on March 26, 1943, in Richfield, Utah to Ivol and Ginger White. He was one of seven children, and had many fun stories to share of his childhood. Ladd grew up in Monroe, where he learned to work by helping on local farms and dairies.

During his teenage years, Ladd moved to Nephi, where he attended Juab High School and worked at Greenwood Chevrolet with his dad. It is here that Ladd developed his lifelong love of cars.

Ladd joined the National Guard and was moved to active duty, where he served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. During his service, he spent time in Alaska, which was an experience that he spoke of often.

After his return from military service, Ladd married Donna Mitchell, and together they had two children, Dana and Mitch. They were later divorced, and after this time, Ladd met his lifelong companion and best friend, Jessie Wilkey, and he welcomed to his family her two sons, Chris and Marty.

Following his return from service, Ladd worked at NRP as well as delivered and set up mobile homes for Steve Greenwood. During this time, Ladd met George Condos, with whom he became lifelong friends. Ladd worked for Condos Construction where he built oil rig locations in Utah and surrounding states. During this time also, Ladd started his successful business “White and Sons Hot Shot Service”, through which Ladd was able to provide many people an opportunity to work.

Following this time, Ladd and Jessie moved to Fort Bridger, Wyoming, where Ladd continued his work in the oil field. It was here that he was injured at work, forcing him to retire early. Ladd and Jessie then returned to Nephi, where they spent more time with their family, as well as camping and traveling around the state, spending much of their free time in many of Utah’s beautiful RV parks.

Ladd had a way of making lifelong friends wherever he went, and could visit for hours. He enjoyed working for his brothers, and spent much of his latter years pulling Haulmark Trailers all over the state. You could always find Ladd at 10 o’clock happy hour, ‘BS-ing’ with his brothers and friends.

Ladd was a beloved grandfather to 15 grandchildren, of whom he supported in all of their various activities. A fond memory that his grandchildren share is drinking a hot chocolate with grandpa down to J.C. Mickelsons. He always had a big supply of otter pops and candies for his grandchildren, and he enjoyed camping with his family whenever possible.

Ladd is survived by his children Chris (Penny) Wilkey, Nephi; Dana (Corky) Holman, Tremonton; Marty (Lisa) Wilkey, Santaquin; and Mitch (Missy) White, Nephi; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and siblings Marcile Gilley, Shannon (Gayle) White, Hap (Bonnie) White, and sister-in-law Diane (Vard) White. Ladd is preceded in death by his lifelong companion Jessie, his parents, brothers Steve, Vard, and Fred, and one granddaughter.

A viewing will be held Thursday, January 25, at Anderson Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm, and funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, at 11:00 am, with a viewing one hour prior, at the Nephi 4th & 5th ward building, 345 E 500 N. Interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Heather Eddington and her staff at Laurel Groves for the exceptional care that they provided to Ladd in the last year of his life.
