LaMar Jay Everitt passed away at home with family on September 6, 2021. He was 85 years old.

LaMar was born the youngest of nine children on April 10, 1936 to James Alma and Elizabeth Ellen Riley Everitt in Moroni, Utah.

LaMar grew up in Moroni and attended Moroni High School. He married the love of his life Darlene Sperry on August 20, 1955 in Nephi. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They were like two peas in a pod and rarely spent time apart. LaMar and Darlene were married 66 years and had four children.

LaMar was a hard worker and had several jobs during his life. He sheared sheep and had several different jobs during his life with the majority spent at his job at NRP, from which he retired.

He served for several years on the credit committee for the Nephi Federal Western Credit Union and enjoyed his time serving in various capacities on the board.

LaMar loved life and his family. His favorite pastimes were camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved to camp in Fairview Canyon and especially loved going to Quartzsite, Arizona during the winter with his brothers, sisters and their spouses. He had an extraordinary green thumb and loved to plant a large garden. He loved to share cantaloupe and watermelon with his family and neighbors.

He loved watching the Utah Jazz and rooted for BYU and the Utes when they weren't playing BYU.

Most of all, LaMar loved spending time with his family. He loved them deeply. He loved to tease and joke with them. His wit, humor, and smile will be missed.

LaMar is survived by his wife, sons, David (Janet), Dennis (Barbara), Dale (Rhonda) Everitt of Nephi, daughter Marla (Vern) Chugg of Draper, a brother Leonard (Glenna) Everitt of Spring City, sister Connie Jones of Tooele, 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alma and William, sisters Margaret, Renon, June, and Ada.

A viewing will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North in Nephi on Sunday from 6-8 pm on September 12, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Nephi 4th Ward Chapel, 345 East 500 North in Nephi, with a viewing one hour prior to services. His interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi.
