Lenny Lamont Evans, age 69, passed away on October 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and a family who will miss him more than words can express.
Lenny was born on March 5, 1957, in Provo, Utah, to Dale Elmer Evans and Margie Hatch. He attended Orem High School and later made his home in Taylorsville, Utah.
Lenny proudly served his country in the United States Army. Throughout his life, he worked in several different professions before finding his true calling as a machine mechanic at Purolator. He had a natural talent for working with his hands, fixing things, and figuring out how things worked. When Purolator closed its doors, Lenny continued his career across the street at Huish, which was later acquired by Sun Products. He took pride in his work and the skills he developed throughout his career.
While Lenny worked hard throughout his life, his greatest accomplishment and proudest joy was always his family.
He was the loving father of Rick (Amber) Evans, Melissa (Cory) Warren, and Brett (Tish). He was also a proud grandfather to Jay Hardy (Nick), Kayla Phillips (Austin), Jordan Batelaan (Cassidy), Afton Larsen (Trace), Chloe Soto (Danii), Trent Evans, Michael Peck, and Robert Peck, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren.
Lenny loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. His family meant everything to him, and nothing made him happier than spending time with those he loved. Whether it was a family gathering, a camping trip, or simply being together, those moments were what mattered most.
If you knew Lenny, you knew his heart belonged in the mountains. He loved camping, riding four-wheelers, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. He even developed an interest in tying his own fishing flies. To Lenny, there was no better place in the world than being up in the mountains with his family. When he wasn't outdoors, you could usually find him enjoying an old western, a war movie, or an episode of one of his favorite television shows, M*A*S*H. He also enjoyed Pit Bulls & Parolees, cheering on his beloved San Francisco 49ers, and supporting the Utah Utes.
Lenny loved his classic rock, especially the music of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, REO Speedwagon, and the Grateful Dead. He appreciated good music, a good movie, and the simple pleasures in life.
And, of course, there was Chuck-A-Rama. Anyone who knew Lenny knew it was his favorite place to eat. Even when he could no longer enjoy it the way he once had, it remained one of his favorites. It was just one of those little things that made Lenny who he was.
Lenny also had a special love for animals. He had several beloved pets throughout his lifetime, with Bella and Emmie being his last two companions. He loved Bella dearly until the end of her life, and Emmie continues to be loved and cared for by his son Rick.
Lenny is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his siblings David (Vicki) Evans, Jann (Garth) Kenney, Jerry Evans, and Darin (Tina) Evans, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Elmer Evans and Margie Hatch; his sister, Kaye Hooley; and his nephew, Jess Kenney.
Lenny was a man who found happiness in the simple things. Give him a mountain road, a four-wheeler, some good classic rock, an old western, and his family nearby, and he had everything he needed. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for the outdoors, and, above all, an unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the stories shared around campfires, the songs played a little louder, the mountain trails traveled, and the family gatherings where his presence will forever be missed.
The mountains will always remind us of Lenny, the music he loved will bring back memories, and every family gathering will hold a little piece of him.
Rest easy, Lenny. May the mountains be beautiful, the classic rock be loud, and the trails go on forever.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
