Leon Allen Skinner

Leon Skinner, 87, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 in Nephi, Utah. He was born on July 6, 1936 to Marion and Bernetta (Allen) Skinner in Provo, UT.

Leon married Rose Lee Peay in 1955 while stationed with the United States Army in Germany. They later divorced. Leon then married Betty Jean (Rasmussen) Carter in 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. Betty Jean preceded him in death January 18, 2020.

Leon and Betty Jean enjoyed traveling, swap meets, camping and fishing with their family, gardening, family reunions, and attending Cowboy Poetry. Leon worked as a butcher for most of his life; then later retired from Tooele Army Depot where he worked as a guard. They then made their move to Levan to enjoy retirement and the peace and quiet. 

Leon is survived by three sons, Allen Lee (Mary) and Les Leon (Kim) Skinner, and Rob Carter, one brother Bob Skinner and one sister Arlene (Wayne) Glover, grandsons, Colt Skinner, Carlos and Tony Armenta, and Shayn Jolley, granddaughters Karlee Brady and Shonda Ewell and five great-grandchildren.

Leon is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers Merrill and Don Skinner, daughters Vickie Lynn Skinner and LaDawn (Carter) Armenta, daughter in law Lynette Carter and grandson Shane Ewell.

Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, August 21 at 11:00 am at Levan City Cemetery. 

The family would like to thank the caring and hardworking staff at Laurel Groves, Central Utah Medical Center and Dr. Grant Rasmussen for the exceptional care of our father and grandfather.
