Lewis A. Wade

Lewis A. Wade, age 82, passed away peacefully at home following the natural decline of age on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 in Sandy, Utah.

He was born January 31, 1944 in Fillmore, Utah to Vivian Rowley Wade and Emily Maria Ashby. He grew up in Fillmore and graduated from Millard High School. Lew was very proud of his childhood roots and being a product of Millard County.

Lew enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard and began his training just days after high school graduation. He served for 7 years and was proud of his military service.

On June 30, 1967, he married LeAnn Littlewood in the Manti Temple. Together they built a beautiful home with their family of 4 daughters and shared 58 years of marriage.

Lew was known for his ability to fix almost anything! More than his skills, his heart was centered on his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. He always wanted to take pictures to preserve memories so he could look back on those experiences and cherish them forever.

In his younger years he loved fishing, camping, family reunions, and golfing.

He loved the simple things—He enjoyed going to the gas station to get his Dr Pepper (no ice, fountain preferred), BYU sports, John Wayne movies, puzzles, and a lifelong passion for vintage cars. He enjoyed driving, even if it was just around the neighborhood to see what had changed, greeting neighbors with a friendly hello and welcoming new families who had moved in. He also liked a good hamburger or fish & chips almost any time.

Lew was known for his kindness, service, witty one-liners, and his smile. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he lived his testimony through his actions. He served in many callings, including as ward executive secretary, ward librarian, high priest group leader, primary teacher, cub scout leader, and as a service missionary with his wife for many years at the Utah State Prison.

Lew also quietly served others as a lifelong blood donor with the American Red Cross. Over the years he donated gallons of his O-negative blood, helping countless people in need and being recognized as a Red Cross Blood Donor Hero.

Most of his career was spent as a building maintenance engineer, working at the University of Utah, 185 South State Building, and with Zions Securities Corporation at the Triad Center and the former JCPenney building. Over the years he formed many lasting friendships with coworkers and building tenants.

Lew is survived by his wife, LeAnn, his children LuAnn Thaxton (Lance of Kaysville), Nancy Wade (Salt Lake City), Shawna Manning (Sean of Kamas), Sherrie Eggenberger (Scott of Kanab), 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, with 4 more on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Reed Wade, of Lehi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Helen, Robert, Betty, and Alton, and great-grandsons, Boston and Baylor Thaxton.

Friends and family may visit with the family from 6:00–8:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026 or Saturday, March 14 from 10:00–11:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1265 E 11000 S, Sandy, Utah.

A memorial service for Lew will be at 12 noon, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1265 E 11000 S, Sandy, Utah.

Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care.

Lew’s warmth, smile, quiet presence, and talent for fixing almost anything will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
