Loyce Powell

Loyce Powell passed away returning to her heavenly father on Sunday April 14th, 2024. She was born August 27, 1937 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho as the only daughter to Albert and Blanche Olofson. She moved several times during elementary school and settled in Pasadena, California when she was 10 years old.

After high school she attended Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She taught her first year in San Diego, California and then moved and taught school in Lehi, Utah. This is where she met Keith Powell, her husband of 58 years before becoming a widow in 2019. They were married on June 24, 1961 and their marriage was solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on November 23, 2013.

She loved teaching school and taught 5th and 6th grade for about 12 years before becoming a stay at home mom. She then returned to the workforce when her kids got older and worked for the American Lung Association for 8 years before retiring with her husband. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her entire adult life serving in several service positions. Her favorite calling was serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River Temple for several years.

Loyce is preceded in death by her husband Keith Powell (March 31, 2019), son Larry Powell (December 14, 2019) and both her parents. She is survived by her daughters Stephe and Amanda and her only grandson Jagar Dean Powell who was the love of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at Goff Mortuary on 8090 State Street in Midvale Utah. There will be a viewing starting at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at Lehi City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Keith Powell and son Larry Powell.
