Lynda Fairbourn Hardcastle

Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at home on October 12, 2026, surrounded by love. She was 87 years old.

Lynda was born on March 20, 1939, in Crescent, Utah, to Ora and Alma Fairbourn. She was their 8th child.

She attended Jordan High School where she participated in Charlonians and took classes to help her develop secretarial skills. She later worked for Jordan School District as a secretary for over 20 years.

Lynda and Noal grew up in the same ward. Noal did not like redheads, but noticed Lynda in a Ward Road Show and they were a couple from that point on. Noal later served a mission in Canada and Lynda waited for him. When he returned they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 8, 1958, and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year.

Lynda lived her life as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in every calling in women’s organizations in the Ward and Stake and was even called as the Ward Priesthood organist when she was 12.

Lynda served 3 missions with Noal. They served at Westridge Academy as spiritual advisors on the girl’s campus, at the Utah State Prison as Name Extraction Supervisors, and at the Los Angeles Temple Visitor’s Center as hosts and later as the directors.

Lynda played the piano and was an accomplished accompanist. Everywhere they lived she helped people with this talent.

Lynda was skilled at sewing. When she was younger she participated in the 4H program and honed her skills there. She made clothing, dolls, Barbie clothes, quilts for her family and others, and wedding veils. Many people benefitted from this.

Lynda loved to work with plants, particularly flowers. Her home was always beautiful because of her work in the yard. She dried many of the flowers and made beautiful arrangements and jewelry from them.

Lynda is survived by her beloved husband Noal, her children Paula (Mike) Landeen, RaeLyn (Dee) Olson, Karen (Mark) Minson, and Guy (Amy) Hardcastle, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother Allen Fairbourn, and nieces and nephews.
