Madge Deforest

Madge Nielson DeForest, 87, passed away peaceful at home on December 28, 2021 with her daughter and son in law by her side.  Born October 10, 1934 in Murray, UT to James and Mary Nielson.   She married her first husband Gary William Cooper (who passed 1962), together they had three children.  Later she married the love of her life, Francis "Frank" LeeRoy DeForest July 17, 1982 - this union added six more children to make a beautiful blended family.  Frank and Madge were inseparable - they did everything together including finding the Lord.  They were so giving and always doing for people less fortunate including feeding the homeless under the Viaduct for many years.

Madge was known for her amazing chocolates and caramel corn every winter.  Also, too many family members their favorite lunch lady (extra cookies for them)!

Madge lived in the Salt Lake Valley her whole life until her health declined after the sorrowful passing of her beloved husband, Frank, on December 18, 2018.  Madge then had a new home in Reno, Nevada with her daughter and son in law.

Madge leaves behind 8 children, Linda Gibson, Bud (Carrie) DeForest, Mick (Vicki) DeForest, Ray (Donna) Cooper, Toni (Tom) Lopez, Laurie (Chris) Morrow, George (Ann) DeForest, Darrell DeForest; Sisters, Janice Dean, Charla Neebecker; many grandchildren and great grandchildren all whom she deeply loved.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vonda Brown, Leila Mauchley, Gwena Webb Kitto, Fawn-Nell Burrows, Shanna Fennema; and a most loving son, Bill James Cooper.

The family would like to thank Compassion Care Hospice, nurses:  Bruce, Darcy, Anna and Stefona for their professional kindness, respect and care they provided Madge for the past 18 months.

A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So State Street, Midvale, Utah on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 1 - 2 pm.  Followed by a graveside prayer at Murray City Cemetery.

Madge was a Christian woman of great faith and prayer who loved Jesus.  To honor your memory of Madge, please make donations to St. Jude, Shriners Hospital for Children or your favorite charity.
