Marden Lane Jensen, 64, passed away on August 17, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mardi was born in Gooding, Idaho, on September 30, 1961, to Lester Detlef and Valoy Christopherson Jensen and was the third of six children. A week after he was born, his family moved to Los Angeles, California, and then to Redding, California, where he spent his childhood.
Mardi served an LDS mission to Bangkok, Thailand, where he developed a love for Thai food and all spicy foods. He graduated from BYU with a history degree and later became a bus driver for Utah Transit Authority, where he spent 17 years driving throughout Salt Lake and Utah counties. He loved driving the bus as he said he got to talk to people from all walks of life. During the 2002 Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City, Mardi had the honor of transporting athletes by bus to compete at venues across Utah, a memory he greatly cherished.
In 1993, he met the love of his life, Lynnae Chandler. They were married and sealed for all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on September 11 of that year. Mardi and Lynnae spent their married life in Sandy, Utah and welcomed three sons and a daughter. Their life together was centered on faith, family, service and love.
Mardi loved art and creating dioramas was how he expressed that talent. He was also passionate about baseball and remained a lifelong Oakland A’s fan. Mardi loved the Beatles music and used it to connect with people from all generations as he often said, “Everybody loves the Beatles!”
As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mardi served in many callings throughout his life. His favorite callings included working with the Cub Scouts and Young Men, teaching Primary and ministering to his families.
Mardi made friends everywhere he went and was known for his warmth and kindness, his gentle manner, and his love without judgment. He had a gift for making others feel valued and welcome and he will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Mardi is survived by his wife, Lynnae, his children Riley (Lily), Brady (Shadelin), Brandon and Kristen, and his three granddaughters, Meadow, Bronwen and Maia, and his siblings Deanna Hovey, David (Brenda) Jensen, Daryl (Patsi) Jensen, Danny (Amy) Jensen and Niel (Jannae) Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A viewing will be held on August 28, 2026, from 6-8 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 85 East 11000 South in Sandy, Utah. A second viewing will be held from 10:30-11:45 AM on August 29, 2026, with the funeral service at 12:00 PM at the same location. Interment will be at Crescent Cemetery in Sandy.
