Marilyn Wertypora

Marilyn was born on April 25, 1956 in Murray, Utah to W. Clark and Leona Lee Jorgensen. She died on October 2, 2025 at Holy Cross Jordan Valley Hospital in the ICU. She was an organ donor.

Marilyn grew up in East Midvale and attended Midvalley Elementary, Midvale Jr. High and graduated from Hillcrest High School. Class of 1974. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marilyn raised three children on her own, she worked hard to make sure they had a home. She loved her children, parents and siblings. She had many friends and always loved meeting new people, she was kind and loving.

She loved travelling, visiting cousin's in the PNW, also going to other Western states, Canada. Her favorites were Seaside, Oregon and Yellowstone. She loved camping, animals, painting, sewing and making ceramics. She was good at all of them. She loved reading romance novels.

Marilyn worked at Becton Dickinson for many years. She left there and enrolled in school to get a Coding Certificate and graduated near the top of her class. She then worked for the LDS Church before suffering a stroke in 2017. She resided at Copper Ridge Health care for 8 years. Making new friends with residents and caregivers.

Marilyn is survived by her children Amanda (Mat) Wertypora, Jason Wertypora, and Andrew Andersen. Siblings Lee (Jeanette) Jorgensen, Kathy Jorgensen and Donna (Ron) Hermansen. Nieces and families Desiree (Doug) Hurley and their son James, and Lacey (Lance) Cawley.

Preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Bernie Jorgensen and her infant son Micheal James Wertypora. Marilyn will be missed and has left a hole in our family.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 10th at 12:00 PM, with a viewing one hour prior to services all at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. Interment in Midvale City Cemetery.
