Marsha Rae Nicol

Marsha, 82, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026 in Draper, Utah surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 1, 1944 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Don and Peggy Marley. Marsha married Michael Rue Nicol on August 18, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity.

At the age of 4 she moved to Walla Walla, Washington with her family where she graduated from Walla Walla High School (Wa-Hi). She then attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and later had the opportunity to move to Provo, Utah to attend BYU. That is where she was introduced to Michael on a blind date through mutual friends. Not long after, they married and quickly began their journey of raising a family and building their life together. Marsha dedicated her life to raising their five daughters and supporting Michael in his career.

Marsha was an accomplished seamstress and blessed her family with that talent by sewing cute summer outfits, blankets, quilts, and dresses for every occasion. Most often her daughters could be seen wearing matching dresses tailor made for their individual personalities. Her other interests included reading, crossword puzzles, sudoku, baking, shopping, decorating (especially for the holidays) and putting together puzzles. She had an affinity for owls and could rarely resist bringing home anything with an owl on it. Over the years, our family learned that if she saw an owl she loved, it was probably coming home with her. She spoke fluent French and had a secret talent of playing the piano. Marsha was fun- loving and witty with a spunky sense of humor that kept us laughing. We must also mention her love of Diet Dr. Pepper that sustained her until the end.

Once her girls were grown, Marsha worked as a lunch secretary at Terra Linda Elementary where she recognized each student and could recall their name and lunch number. Aside from raising her girls, this was her favorite job. Marsha then went to work at a law firm as a legal secretary and worked there until she retired. She spent her retirement taking care of her grandchildren, traveling with her husband, enjoying girl’s trips with her daughters as well as her mom and sister. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Marsha also adored her beloved dog, Puddles, who was a cherished member of their family for many years.

Marsha was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she faithfully served in many leadership positions including, Relief Society President and in the stake Young Women’s presidency. Marsha had a love for the youth and their programs. One position that she loved was her time spent on the leadership committee for Brighton Girl’s camp. She was often found kneeling at her bedside in prayer and found great comfort and strength in her faith.

Survived by her loving and devoted husband, Michael, her sister Brenda Ramirez of Walla Walla, Washington, their five daughters, Holly (Wade) Lloyd, Natalie (Steve) Blaser, Christie (Keith) Winberg, Marchel (Tim)Paget, Rachelle (Ryan) Hughes, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and nephew, Arturo Ramirez (Ricardo Romero) as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30am-11:00am on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Anderson and Goff Mortuary located at 11859 S 700 E Draper, Utah. Funeral services to follow at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, on Monday, August 24, 2026. A very heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at Ashford Memory Care in Draper, to Renew Hospice and Jackie Bringhurst, NP at Bryterson Medical who selflessly cared for Marsha.
