Marvella "G" Sharp Newbold

Marvella “G” Sharp Newbold passed away in her home on October 11, 2025, with members of her family by her side.

Born December 15, 1927, to Leonard William and Emma Geneva Norris Sharp in Midvale, Utah. Marvella was the seventh child and first daughter of eight children. She grew up in Midvale, Utah, and after the death of her father when she was 11 years old, she moved to Lewisville, Idaho with her mother and some of her siblings. The day after graduating from Rigby High School, she returned to Midvale. On July 14, 1947, she married her beloved husband, LaMar Newbold, in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they built a home filled with love for family.

She was a stay-at-home mom, occasionally working various part-time jobs. She was a seamstress, making clothing for her daughters. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and most of all her greenhouse. Her yard was a source of pride and joy.

Family was everything to Marvella. She constantly expressed her gratitude by saying, “I have the best family. I am so grateful for them and appreciate all they do for me.”

Survived by her daughters: Vicki (Neil deceased) Rich and Dixie Bess; six grandchildren: Dirk (Trina) Rich, Colby (Amanda) Rich, Marty (Meghan) Rich, Lance (Sydnee), Dawn, and Luke Bess; seven great-grandchildren: Skyler, Wesley (Alyssa), Emmalee, Matthew, Bradley, Ethan, and Carter Rich. Preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings: Norris, Dean, Willis, Don, Kenneth, Ralph, and Donna.

Mom is deeply missed and will be forever remembered.

At Marvella’s request, there will be a viewing for family at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
