Maxine Prena Hughes

I passed away October 10, 2026.

I was born in Union, Utah to the most wonderful parents a person could ask for, Rena and Vasel Stefanoff. They filled my life with joy and happiness. I loved them dearly. In May of 1954 I married Robert Hughes, we were married for 70 years. We had two wonderful sons, Michael (deceased) and Barton.

Graduated from Jordan High School in 1951 and went to work for AT&T. All of my working years were with the phone companies. I became a Communications Workers of America Representative for the operators and then elected as President of Local 8304 in Salt Lake City. I served the local union for about 16 years.

I am survived by my son Barton, daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren Mandy (who I love dearly), Kali, Ashley, Arianne, Ashton, Jayden, and many relatives who meant a lot to me.

There will be no services, burial will be in the Midvale City Cemetery.
