Miranda Gae Kunz Capinpin, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunty, cousin, and friend, passed away on July 3rd, 2026, at the age of 45 in Sandy, Utah.
Miranda was born to Lyle and Sandy Kunz on August 21, 1980. She was a proud 4th-generation Jordan Beetdigger. After high school, she attended Snow College and then moved to Logan and graduated from Utah State University.
From 2004 until 2012, Miranda lived in Hawaii, where she embraced the Aloha spirit and made it her way of life — treating strangers as old friends and turning acquaintances into family wherever she went. She had room in her heart for everyone to be her niece or nephew. It was during this time that she met her eternal companion, Mano. She was beautiful inside and out and perfected the art of giving the perfect hug — the kind that made you feel like everything was going to be okay. She blessed her family with her fun and positive personality, allowing her brothers to tease her endlessly. Miranda was a gifted lei maker, weaving love into everything she touched. She loved to travel, finding adventure in places as exotic as Europe, the Philippines, Australia — and Bakersfield, California.
She was a fierce and loyal friend, always ready to stand up for anyone she felt had been wronged. She adored her dogs, cherished her neighbors, and loved her granddaughter, Ailani, beyond measure. Her greatest gift was her ability to love without conditions — she never cared where you were from, how much money you had, or how you voted. To Miranda, everyone was worth loving.
Miranda was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the opportunity to serve her fellow man in many different capacities. She always maintained a firm belief in Jesus Christ and in the importance of serving those around her.
Miranda was preceded in death by her mother, Sandy Kunz, son, Seth Capinpin, and her adored dog, Lilo.
She is survived by her husband, Mano Capinpin, her daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Konner Sapoi, and her granddaughter, Ailani Rose. She is also survived by her father, Lyle Kunz, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jared and Senia Kunz, Mat and Kelly Kunz, and countless nieces and nephews.
