Moroni (Ron) Lodder

September 3, 1932 — March 7, 2024

Moroni (Ron) Lodder

Born September 3, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Moroni (Ron) Lodder passed away March 7, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ron was the first in his family to be born in America after his parents and older siblings immigrated in 1929 from the Netherlands. Ron grew up on State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from South High School in 1949.

On March 14, 1952, Ron married Clarice Cole in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and together they had 3 children: David, Alan and Julie.

Ron attended the University of Utah and earned his BS in Accounting in 1955. Upon graduation, he served as a pilot in the US Air Force for three years. After completing his military service, he worked for the IRS for 3 years as an auditor and then began his career in the Healthcare industry. These jobs took him to Centerville, UT, Oakland, CA, Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO. He was a very successful businessman serving as CEO of two different companies. He retired in 1990 to the Bay Area in Northern California where he joined the Blackhawk Country Club and pursued his passion for golf.

He was married 54 years when his beloved wife, Clarice passed away in 2006.

In 2008, Ron married Carol Harrison and together they traveled the world enjoying ocean cruises, European river cruises, train trips and road trips. Carol even got Ron back on airplanes. They made several trips to Europe, trips to Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand, and road/train trips through all 50 states and most of Canada.

They moved to Henderson, Nevada in 2015 and enjoyed a quieter life. For his 90th birthday, however, he marked the event in grand style by having three celebrations including an Alaskan cruise and parties in Las Vegas and Park City where he enjoyed the company of all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ron was a devoted family man and his love of people and his pleasant nature made him a favorite to be around.

Ron is survived by Carol (spouse), children – David (Janet), Alan (Maurine), Julie (Todd) Schull, 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents -Pieter and Petronella, and siblings – John, Toni, Bill and Cort.
