MSG Robert (Bobby) S. Romrell

Robert, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away in his South Salt Lake home on July 20, 2023.

Robert (Bobby as he was known by his family) grew up and lived in Salt Lake City, Utah until 1984 when the family moved to Casper, Wyoming.  He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1985 and decided to enlist in the U.S. Army where his dream was to become a pilot but was unable due to his eyesight. In 1989 he decided not to re-enlist but rather join the Army Reserves.  During his 23+ career he spent time at Fort Poke, LA, Fort Carson, CO., Fort Lewis, WA, Fort Douglas, UT, Korea, Germany, and the Middle East serving during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 419th Transportation Division where he was admired and love by his military family.

On March 17, 2013, he received an Associated Applied Science – Computer and Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute and received the honor of being Valedictorian of the program as well as receiving several accommodations while serving in the Army Reserves.

He is survived by his father (David Romrell), stepfather (Gordon Hincks), 11 sisters, 2 brothers, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents (Seth/Thelma Tracy and Rollo/Ameila Romrell), mother (Valerie Tracy Hincks), and several aunts and uncles.

Services will be held 11:00 am August 11, 2023, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale, Utah 84047.  Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that a donation in his name be made to the Disabled American Veterans or any other foundation that assists veterans with mental wellness.
