Nora Ellen Oki-Gonzales

Nora Oki-Gonzales, 66, of Sandy, Utah, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Born in Salt Lake City on November 5, 1959, Nora was one of nine siblings and grew up surrounded by family, laughter, and a love for life. As a child, she was full of energy and enthusiasm—playing softball, performing gymnastics, playing the violin, and participating in beauty pageants.

Throughout her life, Nora’s greatest joy came from caring for her family. She dedicated herself to her children, and later to her extended family, always offering love, humor, and unwavering support. Nora’s passion for sports continued throughout her life, with a special love for softball and bowling—games that brought her both excitement and lifelong friendships.

In her later years, Nora remarried and cherished her time with her husband, Rory, spending her days surrounded by love and companionship.

Nora is survived by her husband, Rory Gonzales; sons Patrick and Alex Oki; stepchildren Jenn (Shawn) Shira, Chris (Becky) Gonzales, and Cassi Gonzales; siblings Tara (Brent) Bunkall, Melanie Christiansen, Sean King, Kevin (Julie) King, Dennis (Cyndi) King, and Cheryl McCormick; and an army of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Casey Oki, parents Rick and Dorothy Carlin, nephew Dallas Bunkall, brother-in-law Craig Christiansen, and brother Ricky Carlin.

Nora will be remembered for her generosity, humor, competitive spirit, and the love she brought to everyone around her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah
