Orson Rudy Lingmann

Orson R Lingmann passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on July 6, 2023 in Upton, Utah. Orson was born February 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernst Gustav Lingmann and Martha Johanna Maria Hill, who were German immigrants. He was the ninth of fourteen children: George, Kathe, Hilda, Hans, Judith, Edith, Evelyn, Raymond, Orson, Delores, Arlene, Norman, Anita, and Rhea.

In his younger years, he had a passion for fishing and hiking. He graduated from the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering. He had exceptional skills in electrical and mechanical engineering, woodworking, welding, machining, construction, plumbing, and automobile repair. During his professional life, he worked for General Electric, the Atomic Energy Commission, and Kennecott Copper Corporation.

After his retirement from Kennecott Copper Corporation, he and Jean purchased property in Upton, Utah and built their dream home on their beautiful ranch. It was a gathering place for his family, and he loved his time farming, working, and serving others. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He lived faithfully and raised his children to rely on the spirit to guide their lives. He emulated the love of the Savior to everyone he came in contact with.

He married Dortha Jean Gale in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 13, 1951. Together they had three daughters, JaNene, Colleen and Sandra Kay, and one son, Reed Byron. Orson was very generous in sharing his time and skills in serving others with no expectation of pay. He loved and utilized the advancements that he saw in his lifetime, and he continued to learn to navigate technology. He spent many years finding his ancestors and organizing his family history. His greatest joy was his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dortha Jean Gale, and eleven siblings. He has two surviving sisters, Anita, and Rhea.

He is survived by his children, JaNene Crittenden, Colleen Samuelson, Sandra Kay Sidwell, and Reed Byron Lingmann; sixteen grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Hoytsville Chapel (1095 S. Hoytsville Rd., Coalville, Utah). A viewing will be held prior to the funeral on Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon with interment at the Hoytsville Cemetery.
