Paul Ray Taylor passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on March 29, 1947, in Gunnison, Utah, to Ray and Marcia Taylor. Throughout his life, Paul faced many challenges including childhood illness, service in Vietnam, and battles with cancer yet he met them all with quiet strength and faith.
On February 20, 1971, Paul married the love of his life, Nila Frandsen, though he always lovingly insisted their anniversary was February 19. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service.
An Army veteran, Paul instilled in his family a love for God, gratitude for freedom, respect for those who serve, and the importance of putting others first. He led by example through his hard work and countless acts of service. In true Paul fashion many acts of service were done quietly to avoid recognition.
Paul had a deep love of the outdoors, which he eagerly shared with his children. He was a devoted father, faithfully attending dance recitals, choir concerts, and ball games. For more than 30 years, Paul served loyally as a home teacher, visiting the same families with the same companion. He also treasured his weekly dinners with neighborhood friends.
He grew up as a country boy working on the family farm, creating priceless memories with his father, and later sharing those same values and experiences with his own family.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his beloved wife, Nila. He is survived by his children: Darci, Brett (Jory), Denise, and Danielle (Dan); his sisters, Ida and Janice (Allen); six adored grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 26, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St, Midvale, UT 84047. Another viewing will take place at the Brownstone Chapel, 6410 South 725 East, Murray, UT from 10:00–10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery, 6490 S. Vine Street.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Paul with kindness and compassion.
