Rebecca Jo Miller

Rebecca Jo Miller, 76, passed away on January 7, 2024, in Sandy, Utah. Becky was born on April 2, 1947, in Salt Lake City to Joseph and Fern Beckstead.  Her dad was a firefighter and her mother was a stay-at-home mom.  She has one sister.

Becky moved to Idaho at 18 years old and has two children with her first husband, Donald Bird.  When he passed away because of a car accident, she returned “home” to Utah with her two-year-old daughter and a son who was only two months old.  She purchased her one and only house in Sandy and established a life characterized by perseverance, integrity, and faith.

Later in life, she invited longtime friend, Creighton Miller, to accompany she and some friends to Paris to act as tour guide and interpreter.  They fell in love there, later married, and celebrated their passion for all things French by returning to Paris to mark noteworthy accomplishments such as retirement.

Becky was an accountant by trade and retired from Salt Lake Community College after several decades of employment there.

Becky was aways fair and honest and had a disposition that routinely invited perfect strangers to share anything and everything with her whether she wanted them to or not.  She was always kind and trustworthy and ready to offer a smile or words of encouragement.

She is survived by children Bonny Bird and Jeff Bird and six grandchildren.

A brief graveside service will be held at the Salt Lake City Cemetery on January 13, 2024, at 12:00PM.
