Reg Albert Anderson, a devoted husband and father of five, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 88. Born October 10, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Reg lived a life full of love, adventure, and devotion to his family, friends, and faith.
A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, he served diligently in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many capacities, including twice as Bishop of the Richardson First Ward in Dallas, Texas. He especially loved working with the young men as a Varsity Scout leader. He organized countless high-adventure trips — sailing the Gulf, backpacking and rafting in the Tetons, sailing an 80-ft boat from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas, and many campouts and canoe trips across Texas and Arkansas. He also kept a sailboat on Lake Grapevine and later on Lake Texoma. Anderson family summers often included hauling a U-Haul from Dallas to Utah for a week of backpacking to Red Castle in the High Uintahs, followed by family visits and frequent trips to Bear Lake.
In addition to his family, Reg had a deep love for water, mountains, and music. He and Arlene frequently played and sang folk music together at family and community events.
Reg married his beloved wife, Frances Arlene Crocheron Anderson, on August 9, 1957, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1964. Childhood friends and high school sweethearts from the Sugar House area, they raised their five children in Dallas after moving there in late 1964.
A mechanical engineer by training, Reg founded Tetradyne after a client in Mexico asked him to build an armored Jeep. His work led to worldwide adventures designing armored vehicles for numerous countries. In later years, he wrote his infamous biopic red book – “Tetradyne,” documenting his life, family, faith, and business — one of his proudest accomplishments.
In 2007, Reg and Arlene returned to Utah and built a cabin in Timberlakes, Heber, where they enjoyed nature, snow, and family gatherings. It was an idyllic setting.
Reg is survived by his children — Mike (Carmie), Cheryl (Ron), Pam (Ted), John (Marlo), and Stephen (Dori) — along with 24 grandchildren, 15 in-law grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eternal companion, Arlene, and they are now joyfully reunited.
Reg’s legacy of faith, hard work, adventure, and deep love for his family will live on. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for us — a man of principle, priorities, steady strength, and quiet greatness. We love you, Dad.
