At a very young age, Dad learned the value of hard work doing farm chores, This helped him to be a hard worker throughout his life. He graduated from North Emery High School in 1943. He was on the track team and he won the “Best Character Award” in the school play for Emery County School District his senior year. After graduation he was drafted into the Army and served in WWII and was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippine islands for two years. He married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Evelyn Price on April 8, 1949. Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 27, 1959. They raised three children in Sandy, Utah: Sherlyn, Rodney and Janalee. He graduated from Henager Business College in accounting / business and later graduated from barber school. He and his father had a barber shop in Salt Lake for 19 years. He worked for Kem Chemical Corporation as a salesman before starting his own chemical business Reliable Labs. He was an active member of the LDS church and was a temple worker for eighteen years. Also, he and mom performed sealings at the Jordan River Temple for two years. He was a handyman that enjoyed helping his family and friends with their projects. He loved to go with them on family vacations, cruises, fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and bowling. He loved to attend all his family’s activities. He also enjoyed cooking the turkey, homemade dressing, potatoes and gravy for Thanksgiving and ham for our Christmas Eve party. He was a very generous and caring man who taught by example that hard work and service were very important in life. He loved his family, friends, the gospel and our country. We will miss you Dad.
