Reinhard, 87, passed away on May 8, 2026 in Murray, Utah. Reinhard was born on January 7, 1939 in Breslau, Silesia, Prussia (Germany) to Herbert and Gisela Neumann. Reinhard immigrated from Germany to the United States with his family in 1953. Reinhard married Elvira Tegge on September 4, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Reinhard worked most of his career at Quality Plating for 38 years as an electroplater. Before that, he was a tile layer. Reinhard was a hard worker.
Dad loved sports. He played soccer in an amateur league. He loved to run and participated in the 26-mile Deseret News Marathan several times. The first year he ran the Deseret News Marathon, he qualified for the Boston Marathon finishing in under three hours. Bowling was another sport enjoyed by Reinhard. Dad loved following sports. His favorite teams were BYU (football and basketball), Utah Jazz, and Real Salt Lake.
Singing was a favorite activity in Reinhard’s life. He sang in the Salt Lake Oratory Society. As a member of this society, Reinhard participated in many Handel’s Messiah presentations with his wife. He loved singing in the LDS ward choir and sang in a ward choir for decades.
Gardening is a hobby dad spent a lot of time on over the years. He enjoyed planting and caring for the garden. It gave him pleasure to give produce and fruits to his friends and neighbors.
Reinhard is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a two-and-a-half-year mission in West Germany. He loved attending church. The temple was his favorite place to visit. He was a dedicated patron.
We will miss Reinhard’s tender moments and persistence to carry on in spite of much health adversity. He loved socializing at the Sandy Senior Center and was known for his sunny disposition.
In the last nine months Reinhard lived at Abbington Senior Living where he enjoyed activities and especially Bingo. We want to thank the Abbington staff and Canyon’s hospice team for their dedicated and heartfelt service.
We want to thank his friends in the Bellview Ward and in his Sandy neighborhood for their friendship and support throughout his life. Dad lived in this area for more than 60 years.
He is survived by children Darrell (Carolyn) Neumann and Doreen (William) Shelton, granddaughter, Lindsey Neumann, and sister, Helga Cox. He is preceded in death by Elvira (wife), sister, Ruth (William) Kensche, brother, Lothar Neumann, brother, Hans Neumann, Glen Cox (Brother-In-Law), and parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 12:00 PM at the Sandy Utah Central Stake Center, 1050 East Galena Drive (9800 South), Sandy, Utah 84094. A viewing will be held from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM before the funeral services. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
