Rhet J Thalman

After a long struggle and an exhausting battle, Rhet chose to find peace and return home on September 12, 2026. As he finally finds peace, the many people touched by his compassionate heart are left with memories filled with love and humor.

Rhet J Thalman was born in Richfield, Utah, on July 31, 1969, to Ron and LouAnn Jones Thalman. He was their second son and was later joined by a younger sister and brother. Rhet’s mother has always said, “Rhet came with such a huge heart that he was giving to a fault.” Whenever he saw an opportunity to serve, he took it without ever expecting anything in return. From an early age, Rhet developed a strong work ethic. He worked alongside his father and older brother managing the ranch. Rhet attended Juab High School, where he participated in sports, band, and various clubs, making many lifelong friends along the way. After high school, while working toward a degree at Snow College, he married his high school sweetheart, RaDawna Maria Yates.

Rhet and RaDawna soon filled their home with four little girls. Determined to provide his family with a good life, Rhet worked many different jobs. He continued working on the ranch, became a DJ, and worked as a network engineer for several companies. Eventually, he built a successful company of his own, Unlimited Technologies, an accomplishment of which he was incredibly proud. Rhet was always too smart for his own good.

After 20 years of marriage, Rhet and RaDawna parted ways but remained friends and continued raising their daughters as partners. Rhet welcomed his best friend, Carl Day, into the family as RaDawna’s husband, and together they created a dynamic daddy duo.

Rhet’s oldest daughter is Tyrie (Corky Fraughton), followed by Malina (Daniel McIntosh), Tayla Thalman, and his youngest, MaKiah (Chandler Barker). Together, his four daughters gave him nine grandchildren. Later in life, Rhet welcomed two more children, Robin and Duke Thalman, whom he cherished and loved very much.

Rhet had no fear and always loved a good adventure. He was passionate about many things. He treasured every opportunity to travel the world, making friends wherever he went through his genuine kindness and humility. He loved all kinds of music, a passion he passed down to his children. Rhet had a gift for making people laugh and could use humor to help himself and others through almost any situation. He could read a room and always seemed to recognize when someone needed help and when he saw a need, he quietly stepped in to fill it. He was deeply empathetic and genuinely cared about the people around him.

Rhet was also endlessly curious and constantly learning. He could never get enough information. He was fascinated by developing technology while also having a deep appreciation for history. He loved random gadgets. You could always count on him to fix anything, by any means necessary. More than anything, he loved sharing his interests, knowledge, humor, and passions with his family and many friends. There was nothing you couldn’t turn to Rhet for. No matter what you brought to him, he would listen without judgment and never make you feel ashamed for asking for help. Although he was a big, tough, masculine man, he also had an incredibly tender heart and was often moved to tears. He spent most of his life being a hero and an example to many. He loved serving others, always putting their needs before his own, but he often struggled to accept help himself.

Above all his passions and adventures, Rhet loved his family more than anything. Nothing hurt him more than being apart from them.

Rhet is survived by his parents, children, grandchildren, best friend RaDawna, siblings Katie (Shawn) Silcox, Jacob (Chandra) Thalman and sister in law Karla Thalman. Preceded in death by older brother Thane Thalman.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi. A second visitation will take place Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Mona 1st and 2nd Ward Church, 65 East 100 North, Mona, Utah. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at the Mona City Cemetery.
