Our incredible loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and best friend left us on November 3rd, 2026 for a joyous reunion in heaven with Phil, the love of her life. I am sure there were many tears of happiness as she sees the ones that have gone before her, along with many tears of sadness for those of us left behind.
Rhonda was born August 12th, 1945, in Salt Lake City, UT to Ernest Keith Poulsen, and Mavis Page Poulsen. Rhonda’s mother passed June 18th, 1965. Her father remarried “Allee” Monson Poulsen (Ross) and they became a blended family of 8 children that always focused on family as the cornerstone of their life.
Rhonda is survived by her children Jim & Karen Yorgason, Julie & George Nielsen, Jennifer & Garfield Russell, and Jane & Jason Cogswell. Grandchildren Jordan, Bradon, Kolten, Amanda, Kassidy, Brandi, Kyla, Kalai, Raeana, Jessica, Jalissa, Jayden, Eden, Aaron and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters, LeAnn Clark, Shanna Dumas, and Marlene Bills.
Rhonda grew up in Midvale Utah where she met her eternal partner and soulmate, Phil. They were married and sealed on November 8, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple, starting a 63 year adventure together. Phil and Rhonda were inseparable and loved spending time together.
Rhonda has a deep love of the Gospel and has served in numerous capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving others and especially her family. She was always the rock in our house, always teaching, always working to improve things and make our life more comfortable and enjoyable. This dedication to service continued throughout her life where most recently she was serving a Mission as a greeter at a the church vegetable farm. She found so much happiness in teaching others the joys of gardening, service and hard work. She was so proud at the amount of food that the farm was able to produce.
Rhonda has always loved getting her hands dirty. Her and dad always had a garden and that was a big part of her life. She spent hours in the yard, from helping her flowers and trees grow beautifully to growing fruits and vegetables that we later canned and bottled so we could enjoy them year-round. She was also an amazing housekeeper, always keeping the house cleaned, laundry done and teaching all of us kids how to cook amazing meals. She created an atmosphere of love in our house that was enhanced during the holidays with all of her beautiful lights and decorations that the entire neighborhood would stop to admire.
Mom loved being in the outdoors, from camping and hiking, to fishing and hunting for rocks in the deserts, she always had a smile on her face, and was always teaching and helping others. She found great happiness serving the young women of the church at numerous girls camps, combining her love of the mountains, with her love of the gospel and her commitment to service that continues today in the people she has touched in her life.
Throughout her life, she struggled with the impacts of MS, but never let it slow her down and she was never found complaining. She has always been the person that never stopped moving forward and never gave up.
Mom will be remembered most for being a loving and caring woman that was always willing to serve and teach others. Her commitment to her family and Gospel will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched throughout her lifetime. She will be missed very very much!
