Richard Cox of 322 E. Lane Circle, Sandy, Utah, age 77, passed away in the early morning of March 4th, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on April 15th, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Benjamin and Loretta Cox.
Richard retired from working as a field service technician for medical equipment and as an electrician before that. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war, serving in Taiwan. He was an avid gardener, and all his family, friends, and neighbors will attest to the amazing quality of the vegetables he grew in his backyard garden. Camping and backpacking with his lifelong friends brought him great joy, as did playing with his two grandchildren.
He is survived by his son and his daughter-in-law, Charles and Rose Cox, grandchildren Aidan and Nathan Cox, as well as his nephew Steve Cox, nieces Linda Tyler and Kim Gustofsen, numerous great nieces and nephews, and his ex-wife Barbara Mooney. He is also survived by many lifelong friends, all of whom he loved like family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ben and Jim, and a few lifelong friends.
Per his wishes, a celebration of his life will be held privately by his son.
