Rickey Tad Judd, 70, of Hoytsville, Utah, passed away peacefully in his home on December 9, 2025, after a year-long battle with gastric cancer.
Born on December 12, 1954, in Coalville, Utah, he spent most of his time working on the family dairy farm. Rick was a hard-working and dedicated father. He spent almost 40 years working for Associated Food Stores where he made his second family. Despite the commute, Rick was as dependable as they make them.
Though Dad may not have liked being the center of attention, you could always count on him for a joke. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and unconditional love. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Throughout the years, he always supported his kids with their sporting events and school functions. He started Judd Corriedales and also raised fat lamb sheep with his kids for 4-H and FFA projects.
Dad's hobbies and interests helped define the man he was. He enjoyed wood working, hunting and most definitely fishing - often spending the weekends on his boat. It took his kids many, many years to convince him to buy himself a good fishing boat. His love for fishing was something he shared with his son and grandchildren, sister Charlotte and her husband Boyd, his brothers and friends. They made countless memories. He was able to cross off a bucket-list item with a fishing trip to Alaska with his “favorite sister” Charlotte and Boyd in September 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Lew Jean (Potter); children, Candice (David) Videki, Lana Judd, Camillia (Trevor) Moore, Landon Judd, grandchildren, Jamir, Silas, Malik, Olivia, Deegan, and Brooklyn. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his son, Lincoln Tad Judd and parents Grant and Louise Judd.
There will be a gathering for family and friends on December 13, 2025 at the LDS Hoytsville Church from 1-2 pm, followed be a private grave-side dedication.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, his selflessness, and the memories we will cherish forever.
The family would like to thank Quality Hospice for their help in helping care for our father in his final hours.
