Robert ("Bob") Thomas Adams, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in South Jordan, Utah, on June 11, 2026, surrounded by those he loved. He was 76 years old.
Bob was born on October 6, 1949, in Provo, Utah, the eldest child of Tom and Wilma Adams. Family was at the center of his life from the very beginning. He spent his childhood playing sports and exploring the outdoors alongside his brothers and cousins, creating memories he would treasure throughout his life. He greatly admired his father and carried many of his values and example into adulthood.
Bob enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. He served as a torpedoman at Submarine Base Pearl Harbor and faithfully completed two years of active duty followed by two years in the Naval Reserve. His military service reflected a lifelong commitment to his country and to causes greater than himself.
Upon returning home, Bob earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University. He spent the majority of his career with the Bureau of Reclamation, helping manage dams throughout the Colorado River system. He took great pride in work that protected communities and supported generations throughout the West.
In 1975, Bob married Frieda Ford, and together they were blessed with two daughters, Gina and Kristin. Years after their divorce Bob married Debra Clough in 1989. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they built a loving blended family, welcoming Debbie's daughters Angela, Melissa, and Jessica—and later welcoming two children of their own, Thomas and Staci. Bob and Debbie shared nearly 37 wonderful years of marriage, friendship, faith, and devotion.
Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, sharp mind, and love of learning. He rarely met a book he didn't want to read and could often be found with a good historical or mystery book, tending his garden, or enjoying a classic Western. He loved all things cowboy and appreciated the values of honesty, hard work, and loyalty that those stories represented.
His faith was the foundation of his life. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bob served faithfully in many callings throughout the years. He quietly exemplified service, integrity, and commitment to God, family, and country.
More than any title or accomplishment, Bob treasured his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching his family grow. His influence will continue through the lessons he taught, the example he set, and the love he shared.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his children Gina Harper, Angela (Brian) Lines, Kristin (Tyler) Youngbull, Melissa (Matthew) Bejot, Jessica Flynn, Thomas (Alexxis) Adams, and Staci Adams; 23 of his 25 grandchildren; his brothers Jerry Adams and Lynn (Sylvia) Adams; and his sister-in-law, Kris Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Wilma Adams, his brother Ron, a son-in-law, and two beloved grandsons.
Funeral services will be held on June 20, 2026, at 3407 West 9625 South, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at the South Jordan Cemetery. Flowers may be arranged through Goff Mortuary in Midvale, Utah.
