Robert passed away peacefully in his sleep October 10, 2026. Born in East Millcreek, Utah May 30, 1931 to Wilford Q. and Irma Lucille Sims Capson.
Married Marie Van Vliet on April 20, 1950. Together they raised 7 children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Marie, his daughter Shelly, and his grandson Matt.
He is survived by his children: Robert Jr. (Judy), Rodney (Janis), Gay Johns (Mike), Kevin (Connie), Lori Millett (Matt), Mike (Lynette) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert was a self-employed general contractor by trade.
He spent his younger years hunting and fishing. His love of the outdoors was passed down to his children and grandchildren. None of his many talents could surpass his skills in the garden. His flowers and vegetables were famous around the neighborhood. Whether fresh or canned his harvests were shared by many.
He held “Home economics” classes in his kitchen where he taught many “adopted grandchildren” the art of preserving vegetables, pickling cucumbers and making jelly.
The day before he passed he was planting garlic for next season. He wouldn’t leave until his work was finished.
Per Dad’s request only a small graveside service will be held at a later date to lay his and Mom’s ashes to rest.
