Robert Jeffery Sundquist

Robert Jeffery “Jeff” Sundquist, beloved father, grandfather, brother and best friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026.

Born May 19, 1955 in Murray, Utah, Jeff was the eldest of five sons born to Robert H. Sundquist and Arlene L. (Jackman) Gane. He is preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Major Jack D. Sundquist, his grandparents and multiple great-aunts and uncles.

Jeff is survived by his sons, Chad Sundquist, Erik (Megan) Sundquist and Christopher Sundquist; his grandchildren, Morgan, Alex, Wesley and Dylan; his brothers, Mark Sundquist, Mike Sundquist, Brad Sundquist (Rori) and Kirk Sundquist; his adorable Aunt Janice, his much-loved nieces and nephews and his Labrador retrievers, Jake and Digger.

Jeff made many good friends throughout his life and cherished them all. Jeff will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his loving friends and family. Our dearest Jeff, you have made it to Rainbow Bridge, never again shall you be separated from your faithful pets, Buddy, Max, Gunner and Bear.

Jeff was raised in Murray, Utah and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandfather, Fred Jensen. Jeff also cherished spending time on the Sundquist family farm where he learned valuable life lessons from his beloved Uncle Cy. After graduating from Murray High School, Jeff joined the U.S. Army and proudly served from September 26, 1973 to September 23, 1977. After active duty, Jeff continued his patriotic service with the U.S. Army Reserves.

Jeff earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster College. This achievement was extra special because his father, Robert, also earned a degree at Westminster.

In addition to serving in the military, Jeff had a long and outstanding career in Law Enforcement. Jeff retired from the State of Utah, Department of Corrections, where he served with Adult Parole and Probation, the Office of Investigations and was a founding member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Violent Crimes Task Force. Jeff was also a graduate of the FBI’s prestigious National Academy Program. Just weeks after retiring in Utah, Jeff became a Deputy for the Toole County Sheriff’s Office in Shelby, Montana, where he served for five years.

Jeff enjoyed turkey hunting, golfing and four wheeling with his sons, grandchildren and brothers in Fillmore, Utah. One of his favorite adventures was learning to fly fish in Galway, Ireland in the pouring rain.
