Rodney Blake Brunson

A devoted brother, father, grandfather, and lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, passed away on May 9th, 2024, at the age of 67.

Rodney was born on September 13, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bud Brunson and Yvonne Husser. From a young age, his passion for tinkering with cars developed as he spent countless hours helping his stepfather at Carburetor Exchange.

His passion for cars was second only to his love for his family. Rodney cherished his three sons and adored his 3 grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was attending Dallas Cowboys games and enthusiastically cheering on his beloved team with his family.

In addition to his dedication to his family and his love for classic automobiles, Rodney also owned two successful businesses named "The Breaking Point" and "Mr. Carburetor," where his expertise and passion for automobiles shone brightly. For many years, he served as a valued employee at Neil's Pro Shop before ultimately landing his dream job at the RW Erickson Foundation in Wallsburg, Utah. His journey to this fulfilling role was marked by five years of dedicated volunteer service to the foundation, a testament to his unwavering commitment and determination.

Rod's legacy is one of profound love and boundless passion - a man who would literally give you the shirt off his back. Throughout his life, Rod's commitment to his family and friends was evident in every act of kindness, including his willingness to fix their cars. Each member of the family holds a story where Rod's skilled hands and generous heart came to their aid, exemplifying his selflessness and unwavering support.

He leaves behind his heartbroken family, sons Justin (Allie), Jeremy, Josh (Katy), his three grandchildren Blake, Kylie, and Jasmine, his brother Kerry, two sisters Franki Plott Chipman, and Joni Taylor and his adoring nieces, nephews, aunt, cousins and countless friends.

Preceded in death by parents, grandparents, uncles, nephew, bonus dad Frankie Plott Sr, and brother Frankie Plott Jr.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. King Udell, who for decades served as both a trusted physician and a cherished friend.
