Roger Lee Grimsley was born December 15, 1938 in Grantsville, Utah to Verne and Amelia Nickerson Grimsley. Roger died at the age of 86 on July 28, 2025 in South Jordan, Utah.
At the age of 2 the family moved to 2004 S. Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up with 3 brothers. He graduated from West High School in 1957. He married Carolyn Irene Hogan on September 16, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Roger and Carolyn were married for 67 years and had five children, all girls. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and obtained the level of High Priest in the Melchizdek Priesthood.
Roger loved adventure and was a sort of vagabond as he loved to move to different places. He said he always drove a different route to work to see new places. He lived all different places in the Salt Lake Valley. He lived in Coalville, Delta, North Salt Lake and Tooele, Utah. He moved his family to California in 1982. He lived in Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, Chino Hills, Diamond Bar and Visalia, California. While in California he managed Norco Trucking a propane company.
When he was young he rode with his father in his truck to deliver coal. Because of this he had a desire to drive trucks. He drove trucks for several trucking companies in his career and even had his own business for a few years.
He served in the National Guard and the Army Reserve from 1955 to 1963.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, five daughters, Lesa (Steve) McCullough, Robin (Douglas) Wilde, Carolee (Dee) Johnson, Evette (Troy) Nichols and Andrea (Kirk) Thorpe. He is survived by 21 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his mother and father, his brothers, Nick (Joanne), Leo (Sandy) and Alen Grimsley. 3 grandchildren, Cameron Nichols, Krystal Thorpe Furse and Alyssa McCullough. 2 great grandchildren, Zander Jones and Aspen Blonquist.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 10124 S. 1300 W., South Jordan, Utah. Viewing for immediate family from 9:30 to 10:00 am, and open viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the West Jordan City Cemetery located at 1300 W. and 7800 South.
