Roger Calvin Jensen

Roger Calvin Jensen passed away on June 15th, 2026 at the age of 91.

Roger was born December 6, 1934 in his family home in Mayfield to Calvin and Matilda Anderson Jensen. He was the oldest of four children.

Roger graduated from Manti High School in 1952.

He married his eternal sweetheart, Bonnie Lou Buchanan, on December 28, 1956 and they were sealed as a family September 15, 1966 in the Logan temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They enjoyed nearly 70 years together. He attended Snow College and Utah State University before pursuing a career in manufacturing engineering. He was an engineer for Thiokol (ATK - minute man missiles) and Unisys (mainframe super-computers).

He was a faithful member of the Church of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as Elders Quorum president twice, in six bishoprics and in many other callings.

He served for decades in the Gunnison Valley Lions Club as a hard working member, president and secretary.

He was a kind, gentle, and faithful man whose love for his family was constant and unwavering.

He was the family patriarch and is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie and posterity including his children Janice Bown (Bob), John (Laurie) and Michele Jensen (Brian), his brother Wesley Jensen and his 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Nancy Burdette and Debra Madsen, son-in-law Bob Bown and great grandson Carter Gledhill.

Dad had a quiet strength and a generous heart. He was always ready to help. He could fix a car, build a house, tend the kids, plant a garden or design a bridge. He could do whatever needed to be done and if he didn't know how he would figure it out. He taught us by example the value of honesty, hard work, patience, and compassion.

More than anything, he loved his wife and family. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply spending time together in their home, on the mountain or on vacation, he made each of us feel loved and treasured. The memories he created will remain in our hearts and continue to guide us for the rest of our lives.

He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and who will honor his memory every day. Thanks so much.
