Ruth Ellen Kendall

Ruth Ellen Kendall, 68, passed peacefully from this life on December 14, 2025 surrounded by family and friends who love her dearly. The reunion in heaven with her parents and brother was probably sweet and tender in many ways.

Ruth was born on September 16, 1957 to Marjorie LaRae (Worthington) and James Clair Kendall of Nephi, Utah. She grew up in Nephi and attended Juab High where she participated in the marching club, Provita. Ruth was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her whole life. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from BYU in Home Economics Education. She also earned a culinary arts certificate from Utah Technical College at Provo (UVU). She served a mission for the church in the Canada Montreal, French speaking mission. Ruth served in many callings in different wards as she moved around the Salt Lake area. Her home for the last twelve years was in West Valley, Utah. She worked for thirty-one years as a remote encoder for the postal service and just retired on October 31, 2025.

Ruth excelled at baking and often warmed the hearts of many others with her treats, especially her pies! She raised many cats who were like family to her. She was a loving daughter, sister, and sister-in-law, but especially an amazing aunt to ten nieces and nephews and forty-one great nieces and nephews. She paid special attention to sending cards to each person for any celebration: birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, and Valentines. She attended hundreds of performances and showed up for several baby blessings, baptisms, and weddings. She had a love for the arts and especially liked to attend any kind of play or musical! Many of her nieces and nephews consider her a second mom (and second grandma to her great nieces and nephews) and had the best of times whenever they were near her, whether that was going to a special event, putting together a puzzle, or playing games for hours. She is loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents James Clair Kendall and Marjorie LaRae Worthington Kendall and her brother James Clair Kendall, Jr.

She is survived by her sister AnnaRae (Craig) McAllister and sister-in-law Marlene Kendall.
