Sharron "Kay" Hartwell

Sharron “Kay” Hartwell passed away peacefully in her home on July 11, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished. Born on September 11, 1945, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, Kay lived a life defined by laughter, love, and unwavering devotion. She spent her years in West Jordan, Utah, building a home that became a sanctuary and a gathering place for generations.

Kay attended Brigham Young University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design. She had an eye for beauty and creativity that reflected not only in her work but in the warm, welcoming home she created for everyone who entered.

In February 1970, Kay eloped to Elko, Nevada, with the love of her life, Charles ”Chuck” Hartwell. Their union, later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple, was the beginning of an adventure filled with deep affection and joy. Together, they built a family that remained Kay’s greatest pride.

As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kay served her church and community with a faithful heart. She found immense fulfillment in helping others and possessed a remarkable ability to build meaningful, lasting friendships wherever life took her.

If you knew Kay, you knew she was feisty, quick-witted, and had a sarcastic streak that everyone loved. She always had something to say, and her laugh was the kind that could fill a whole room. She had a way of making a normal afternoon feel special just by being there and sharing a joke.

Kay found joy in life’s simple pleasures, from crafts and puzzles to camping and playing cards. Sitting across the table from her, one quickly learned she was a fierce card shark who played to win, always accompanied by a playful grin and a witty remark. She also shared a special bond with her faithful dog, Cooper, who was rarely far from her side and could always count on a few extra treats while resting at her feet.

Above all, Kay loved being surrounded by her family. Her home was a revolving door of loved ones, especially during the holidays. She delighted in the joyful chaos of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; the louder the laughter and the fuller the house, the happier she was.

Kay leaves a joyful legacy measured not in years but in love, laughter, and memories she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. She taught us that life’s greatest blessings are found in family, laughter, and time spent together.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her spirit lives on in every sarcastic remark, every cherished story retold, and every spirited card game played in her honor. Her love remains present whenever her family gathers to share a laugh and carry forward the joy she so freely gave.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chuck Hartwell; her brother, Ronald (Sara) Harris; and her parents, William and Martha Harris.

Kay is survived by her brother William (Arla) Harris; her children, Michael (Becky) Hartwell, Kimberlee (Darby) Zimmerman, and Molly (Patrick) Edwards; her grandchildren, Michael (Lindsey) Hartwell, Ashlee (Tom) Thorne, JW Hartwell, Taylor (CJ) Hoyt, Derik Johnson, Shay (Sam) Miller, Vincent (Bailey) Edwards, Shawnee (Michael) Forster, Courtney (Tobie) Edwards, Payton Locher, Kaylee (Alejandro) Colina, Mason Edwards, Lindsey Hartwell and Wyatt Locher; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Autumn Edwards, Reyes Miller, Ember Hoyt, Chesney Edwards, Noah Colina, Tyler Hartwell, Strider Miller, and Hayes Hoyt, along with many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Friends may greet the family during a visitation that will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. Services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 with visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, followed by the memorial service at 10:30 AM at the Mountain View Ward Building, 3200 West 8825 South, West Jordan.
