On May 19, 2025 a bright sun set in our world. As it set, it rised in the next world, blessing and brightening those who have gone on before. The warmth and brightness that was Shauna Wheeler will be dearly missed by her earthly friends and family.
Shauna Wheeler was born on March 8,1950 in Provo Utah. Her amazing parents were Charles and Cecilia Beyers. When Shauna was a small infant, her parents moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. This is where Shauna was raised and spent the first twenty years of her life. Shauna and her younger brother Steve had a fascinating childhood. It was in these early years, attending a small branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that she learned the divine principles of friendship and sincere ministering. At a very young age, she developed a firm and solid testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Shauna attended Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in teaching. It was at BYU where she met, fell in love with and married her eternal companion, Rex Gregory Wheeler. It was also at BYU where she had her first son, Rex Jr. After graduation, Rex, Shauna and Rex junior moved back to Hot Springs, Arkansas where Rex started a career in banking. Soon after settling in Hot Springs, Shauna gave birth to her second son, Charles David. After five years in Arkansas the family moved to Boise, Idaho where Jeffrey Ray, her third and youngest child was born.
Rex always maintained that banking was a stable career, not requiring a lot of moving. With that said, Rex and Shauna went from Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Boise, Idaho, to Pocatello, Idaho, back to Boise, then to Centerville, Utah. From Centerville they were transferred to Gilbert/Mesa Arizona. Finally, they transferred back to Salt Lake City where they have resided since 2006. In each of these locations Shauna quickly made friends. She was a master at keeping relationships. To this day she has wonderful friends in each of these locations. No matter where Shauna lived, she was everyone’s friend and people loved her dearly. She truly was a bright sun in all her friends’ lives.
Shauna had a soft love for those who were most vulnerable. She was always focused upon helping special needs children. She made a career working in the public schools with these kids. If you ever wanted to see her smile, you only had to mention one of her special kid’s names.
Shauna also loved raising her three sons. She even more delighted in her four grandchildren. Children and grandchildren were most important to her.
Shauna was a fighter. She had many health problems, most serious was a kidney disease. She had a kidney transplant when she was in her young forties. The medications she had to take for the transplanted kidneys caused severe arthritis. She spent the last eight years of her life in bed, not being able to stand or walk. In spite of her health challenges, she always remained positive and strong.
Most importantly was Shauna’s testimony of the Savior and His Gospel. She loved serving and ministering. So many people were blessed by her giving, caring spirit.
Shauna is survived by her husband Rex, her brother Steve Beyers, and her sister-in-law Perriann Beyers. Shauna leaves behind three wonderful sons, Rex Jr, David and Jeff. And finally, she will mostly miss and be missed by her four grandchildren, Caleb Wheeler, Sophie Wheeler, Ella Wheeler and Charlie Wheeler. She also loved and cherished Izzy and Miles McGrath, stepsister/brother to Caleb and Sophie. A special thankyou goes to Amanda Harris and Rene’ Sickles who took loving care of Shauna in the past few years. They both became the daughter that Shauna never had. These two angels kept Shauna so happy in her declining days.
