Sheila Oakeson

Our "sweetheart girl," Sheila Oakeson, graduated from this life on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the age of "five-seven." She was born on August 12, 1964 to Ivan Ray and Alta Marshall Oakeson. She was the baby of seven siblings - Karen, Mary (deceased), Laurie, Cynthia, Ivan, and David. She "loved her family best." Really, she loved "everyone best."

When Sheila was growing up her second home was at her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Sherm's. She would often double up meals eating at both places. She attended Jordan Valley School and after graduation, she worked in their workshop rebuilding carburetors. When her Dad retired she retired also. She liked to go on rides with Ike, Ivan, Blair, or anyone else that would take her to get a "Big drink."

She visited family and neighbors, walking in unannounced, and feeling right at home. She loved Elvis, John Wayne, Roy Rogers, and the Fonz. She liked sleepovers, watching movies, Christmas, big parties on the "geck," and big gifts. She liked having "big money" in her wallet, having gift cards, showing them off and telling who they were from. She loved BYU, Utah, and the Jazz. Sheila liked to crochet and made hundreds of crocheted dishrags. She liked to play the piano and "Happy Birthday" was her favorite. She liked to sing along with her niece and nephew to "Love Me Tender," "Cindy, Cindy," "My Rifle, My Pony, and Me," and songs from "Sister Act" and "Sound of Music."

She was sweet and had a big smile on her face, but if she was ever disappointed, you knew about it from her eye rolls, head shaking, and saying "horsefeathers." If she got teased too much, she'd say, "Too much cheese," but if she liked something, she would say "groovy" and we got a thumbs up or double thumbs up, way up.

Every night, she brought her scripture reader and a book to read and then we had family prayer before bed. We will miss her big hugs, shoulder rubs, and pulling a Sheila (AKA stealing someone's seat when they got up for a snack or drink). She fought hard to "stay here best," but is now celebrating with her family on the other side. She is loved by all who know her and she loves us back.

"We love it Sheila best. Later!"
