Sherrie Logan

April 23, 1951 — March 9, 2024

Sherrie Logan

Dearly loved by all who knew her, Sherrie Logan, age 72, passed away on March 9th, 2024 in the St. George Utah Regional Hospital after a brief bout with pancreatitis.

She was born to Dorothy Wainwright and Harlan Logan on April 23,1951 in San Francisco, California while her parents were at Camp Stoneman Army Base in Pittsburgh, California. Her older brother Dave nicknamed her “Sher Bear” and later in life shortened it to “Bear”.

After graduation from Skyline high school, Sherrie went to work doing a variety of projects including workshops through a state sponsored special needs program. She kept busy, often cleaning and dusting establishments. She enjoyed her association with her friends and never missed a day of her workshop, if she could help it.

After her father died in January 2000, Sherrie and her mother Dorothy spent many years caring for one another until Sherrie was placed in a group home. They would talk on the phone everyday until her mother’s death in July 2020. Sherrie made many lifetime friends at her group home, managed by Chrysalis, and everyone always said how much they loved her.

For the past 15 years Sherrie has been in the care of Chrysalis, a program for the intellectually handicapped in St. George, Utah. She enjoyed the many caregivers and the activities they planned which enriched her life. Her crafts and art projects were always proudly displayed, and she always loved making things.

Sherrie was a quiet sort of gal and had a special language that often-included chirps and purrs, probably learned from her love of animals. When she was young, her favorite animal was a Siamese cat named Tippy. When Sherrie was sitting down, she loved to have it curled up on her lap. Later in life her stuffed animals were still how she gave and received love.

Sherrie is survived by brother, David Logan, former sister-in-law, JoDee Hilton, niece Brandi, and nephew, Ben.  Memorial services will be held for her extended family at 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2024, in her cousin's homes in South Jordan and St. George.
